So mom%26#39;s gonna pay for my bf and I to go up for Valentine%26#39;s Day (she%26#39;s awesome, isn%26#39;t she?).
First, he and I are both summer people so anything outdoors-no matter how romantic, will be ruined for us. I%26#39;m looking for a bar/pub/restaurant that%26#39;s quaint to eat and or get a drink and not expensive. As far as food, nothing crazy, he%26#39;s pretty plain. We do both like italian alot. I went to Arturo%26#39;s last weekend and it was great, but a little too loud/crowded and not exactly the vibe I%26#39;m going for. Location isn%26#39;t really an issue, we can take the subway or cab. Any other romantic ideas other than food are also welcome. He%26#39;s only been to NYC once. We will probably do TOTR day %26amp; night (last time we did ESB at night) and I def want to go to the Museum of the City of NY.
Parking. We are staying at the Wall St Inn (William St by Broad) and will be coming on Sat and leaving Sun. Usually we park in the garage. But when I was there last, the kid working in Starbucks was talking about how the parking rules don%26#39;t apply on weekends and he parks on the street. How exactly would we go about doing this without getting towed/ticketed? I can read the signs, but I just want to be certain. It would be much better to walk a little ways rather than pay $70 for parking for the 2 days.
Thanks!!
inexpensive %26amp; romantic place and parking question
That is very nice.
Street parking on Sunday is easier than Saturday. You just have to drive around and read the signs.
You can also park at MetroPark (NJ Transit station) and take the train in.
In the East Village, on East 4th St, I%26#39;m a big fan of In Vino, it is a charming little Italian restaurant.
What budget are you playing with? Babbo and Del Posto are two very expensive Mario Batali Italian restaurants.
Have you had a look at www.yelp.com?
inexpensive %26amp; romantic place and parking question
I%26#39;m thinking $30 per person. But we could always go someplace less expensive to eat, then just get a drink somewhere expensive after.
From their website, In Vino looks really cool. Thanks for the suggestions!!
Ah ..... to be young and madly in love. For anything on Valentines day you should book immediately. Also keep in mind that a lot of places have special %26#39;Valentines Day%26#39; fixed price menus which could be out of your price range so check it out when making the reservations. If you like Italian then you might try calling %26#39;Lupa%26#39; it%26#39;s Mario Batali%26#39;s less expensive Italian restaurant (he also owns Babbo).
