So it%26#39;s not a mystery, your experience was not good with this co. and you would not recommmend them and neither would I.

Most locals seem to be pretty aligned on what we suggest. Almost always everybody suggests the same three (in varying order). Dial 7, Allstate and Carmel.

I think some people prefer Dial 7.

The primary reason I like Allstate is that I%26#39;ve been using them since Grad School, I walk past their offices in Chelsea regularly (I feel like if I ever had a problem I wouldn%26#39;t be calling an offshore Call Center, I like knowing where to find them). Also, many times they%26#39;ve sent larger vehicles because they had a large group going in the other direction. I%26#39;ve enjoyed having the extra space at no additional charge. This isn%26#39;t guaranteed, it has just happened. So, I like Allstate.

I think Dial 7 rebranded, I think they used to be Tel Aviv but I%26#39;d guess that sadly that name may have cost them some business. They%26#39;re very good.

On our recent trip we used M.D. limousines from EWR to midtown and back and were very impressed. They were reliable, professional and courteous/friendly.

The prices Lincoln Limousines quotes are far more than double what any of the other sedan companies like Dial 7, Allstate and Carmel charge. Please kindly let us know what a visitor may find as added-value for the significant difference in price. Thanks.

I stumbled on this conversation while looking for reviews of Lincoln Limousine. I booked with Lincoln in early December for a planned trip in February and I could not locate any reviews at that time. Perhaps I wasn’t using the correct search terms.

Three of us will be travelling from the Newark Airport to a hotel in Manhattan on February 13, 2009.

According to comments made in this discussion, Lincoln should be avoided because they did not provide a large enough vehicle and their quotes are “are far more than double what any of the other sedan companies…charge”. MoreFFmiles – have you requested a quote from Lincoln to compare rates? I have received my booking confirmation and here is what it specified:

Base Rate: $53.00

Gratuity (20.0%): $10.60

Parking: $9.00

Tolls: $10.00

Total Estimated Cost: $82.60

To determine if this amount was unreasonable and truly “double what any of the other sedan companies charge” I checked the rates at two of the recommended competitors. The Dial 7 quote was $51.00 for a Luxury Sedan and did not include “tolls, gratuity, waiting time and additional costs”. The quote from Carmel was $55.00 for a Deluxe Sedan and no mention was made of tolls, gratuity, waiting time and additional costs. So, the rates charged by Lincoln are very competitive (if not better) than what the companies recommend in this discussion are charging. In fact, one of the competitors does not disclose the fact that additional charges will be applied.

rivercross – I can appreciate your frustration when Lincoln did not provide a large enough vehicle to accommodate your luggage. However, the company did provide a car when you arrived earlier than expected in what you describe as a short time period. That sounds pretty decent to me. Also, the company sent another car when you complained about the lack of space. Again, it sounds pretty fair to me. The fact that the company requested payment for the second vehicle should not come as a surprise. The larger vehicle you originally requested would have cost approximately $40 - $50 more than the smaller vehicle. I agree that they should have sent a larger vehicle in the first place, but chastising the company for that one error seems unfair. It would seem they bent over backwards to correct the problem. Am I wrong?

I think these forums are fantastic and I rely on them when booking accommodation, flights, meals, and (yes) limousine services. In my humble opinion complaints about the services of a company should be backed by solid evidence and personal experience. From what I have read here I am not convinced that Lincoln Limousines should not be recommended. They appear to offer competitive rates and made every attempt to correct a mistake.

And no, I am affiliated with Lincoln Limousines and I am not in their employ.

One consistent complaint on Lincoln Limousines is that they quote rates and then charge more. I wouldn%26#39;t use them, PERIOD.

nywhiz – thank you for swift response and for providing the link to multiple discussion threads.

I must take issue with your comment that there is a “consistent complaint” that Lincoln Limousine charges more than their quoted rates. Of all the pages discussing this company I could only locate a single instance where this was indeed true. The difference between the quoted rate and the actual rate charged was $12 – the quoted rate was $143 and the driver asked for $155.

I think much more of concern is the consistently poor service this company seems to provide. However, there is some suspicion in the previous threads that someone with a vendetta is trying to tarnish the reputation of the company. I will review all of the information carefully before making a decision to cancel my existing reservation. It would appear that a taxi might be the better option.

Thank you all who have made contributions on this subject and thank you again nywhiz for your swift response. Now, if you can provide your thoughts on Hotel 31 that would be great!

we had several emails with company and they assured us that they could accommodate 4 adults and 4 suitcases in the ONE vehicle.

When the vehicle arrived it could not accommodate us - the driver tried to put THREE suitcases in the trunk and they did not fit - he was going to damage of them by continually trying to squash it in.

When we contacted the the woman in the office she was SO RUDE and ignored anything that had been said in emails.

If we had wanted TWO cars we would have booked two cars and did not like the assumption that if they had made a cock up of the booking it was acceptable then to pay for both cars.

Our main complaint was the inefficiency and rudeness of the company - saying they could deliver our requirements when they knew perfectly well it was not possible

So forget about this company and book with some of the other more reputable ones that have been mentioned in other posts.
