Gotta cheer up a friend! Two of us are suddenly coming in next weekend determined to have an indulgent spa/shopping birthday weekend for our sad girlfriend. Thought I%26#39;d try the renovated Plaza but could only get a smoking room big enough for the three of us to be in the same suite. The Palace? Other suggestions of a really nice hotel with a great spa in it? Cool, fun bar/restaurants for girls night out for moms? Can splurge...
Deluxe Girls' Weekend with Spa - hotel? restaurants?
The Peninsula Hotel is the best for what you want. Great rooftop spa with a pool that overlooks 5th ave. Right in the middle of all the good shopping. Has a couple of good bars and a good restaurant. The King Cole Bar is across the street and you can walk to the plaza%26#39;s Oak Bar
Cool buzzy place to eat is David Burke and Donatella. The food presentation is sure to bring a smile to everyone%26#39;s face.
If you want to keep it fancy the Carnegie Club does a great Sinatra show with a 12 piece orchestra on Saturdays.
Deluxe Girls' Weekend with Spa - hotel? restaurants?
Agree the Peninsula has a good spa and a renovated pool if it%26#39;s reopened. YOu should check. Other options are
the Mandarin Oriental
Four Seasons
Ritz Carlton
St. Regis
Trump International
trendier options
Gansevoort
Soho House
A nice hotel for a cool girls weekend is the London which is all suites, but they don%26#39;t have an inhouse spa. There are plenty of day spas though. Their restaurant/bar is Gordon Ramsay%26#39;s.
Cool! The Peninsula looks just right. And David Burke definitely looks fun.
Other suggestions for interesting hangout spots nearby? Our friend is a New Yorker, but I bet hasn%26#39;t been out to new fun bars and restaurants recently. Trendy, but not unfriendly to 3 moms (i.e., not a 20%26#39;s only crowd!) So far I%26#39;m thinking on Saturday we%26#39;d shop and then go to the MOMA (going to the Modern for lunch or drinks after?), then a show. Late to get tix, but maybe Jersey Boys (keeping the ';upbeat'; theme) or ?? How about a different area of town for Sunday - - interesting shopping, galleries, lunch? Doesn%26#39;t all have to be expensive, just interesting.
Thanks a million for all your ideas. I haven%26#39;t been to NYC in ages.
