6 Columbus

The teen is desperate to stay Upper west for a couple of nights and Cricri and others speak very highly of 6 Columbus which is more lower West if such a district exists.

I have already double booked. Does anyone who has stayed in the area have an opinion - only fair to tell you that we are very familiar with midtown and looking to spend some time with easy access to the park.

Thanks

6 Columbus

Hi Kangagirl....It is 4 o%26#39;colck in the morning and I am getting ready to go to the airport for my flight and on to the 6 Columbus!!

Honestly, I always thought that I was more of a downtown kind of gal, I stayed in Greenwich village on many occasions, but I have to admit that anywhere in the city is a pleasure. The nice thing about being so close to Columbus circle is the public transportation. You can take the subway or many buses to go anywhere. There are many nice restaurants in the area, I plan on checking out Picholine and the bar room at the Modern in the MOMA.

The teen, if you don%26#39;t have a laptop computer, will love to go to the Apple store to access her email account, free of charge!

Anywhere in the city is nice:)

Now I have to finish packing!!!!

6 Columbus

Where else have you booked? I think 6 Columbus is a very cool hotel but if there are 3 or more of you, the rooms are not that large. If teen wants upper west side and you%26#39;re a family, have a look at the Beacon which has suites that were recently redone. On the Avenue is having a sale right now. Their larger rooms (ie 2 doubles or 2 queens) are a good size.

Hi KG,

Have stayed there last summer. The hotel is very nice although the rooms are small. You should take into account that the teen will not get Upper west feeling as the hotel is not deep into the Upper west and the neighborhood feels more like midtown.

Have fun.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s responses,

We are travelling light this time with just teen and I so the room size should not be a problem. I have booked the Queen deluxe at $189 per night which seemed quite reasonable (promo rate on hotel website).

I was also tossing up On the Avenue as it looks good on its site but the reviews on TA are really mixed.

I think that 6 Columbus looks like it will suit us well for a couple of nights on our way back through NYC.

Thanks also for the black and white cookie link - they look delicious. I think that we may need to sample a few while we are there!

Cricri - have a wonderful trip. Thanks so much for taking time out from the rush to leave to respond.

Thanks again all.

I%26#39;ve also stayed at 6 Columbus and absolutely loved it. Its perfect if you want easy access to Central Park. I loved nothing more than waking up, grabbing a hot chocolate, and walking through Central Park in the morning over toward the shopping on the Upper East Side. It%26#39;s something that I find myself missing at least weekly.

We stayed in the Queen Superior room, and it is small, but we never felt like we were cramped. The beds are super comfy, the heated floors in the bathroom are wonderful (especially after a long day of walking around), and I think that the decor is something that a teen could appreciate. It%26#39;s urban, chic, cool...

And, as Cricri and I have both attested in the past, those super cute doormen make you feel like a million bucks!

I am staying there with my younger sister in the end of February and can%26#39;t wait to go back.

Thanks feather

I am convinced now and can%26#39;t wait to get there!
