wedding in new york, central park

Hi

we are from the UK and got married in Shakespeare garden, central park in august 2007. we arranged our celebrant over the internet and the whole thing was really easy and stress free.

we had lunch at the Loeb boathouse. we arrived at 12.10pm without a booking as we were prepared to wait, but they let us jump the queue and even organized a table near the water. They did everything to accommodate us and we even hired a rowing boat afterwards.

we also had a lovely evening meal at the rainbow grill at the rockefeller centre which had spectacular views.

we stayed at the wellington hotel who upon hearing of our marriage upgraded us to a queen suite with spectacular views of the park from our room and sent us a little gift.

we would highly recommend getting married in new york!

one tip; you need to get your marriage license from city hall at least 24 hours prior to your marriage (this may have changed so PLEASE check). This also involves getting a money order from the post office. This was all relatively easy but i would not recommend leaving 24 hours but a minimum of 48 hours! you must check and double check that the relevant offices will be open as they close for public holidays etc. i would phone and check in advance as without the license you will not be getting married.

also check with city of new york that your celebrant is legally registered with them.

all the very best of luck if you are planning to get married! x
