From Albrightsville to New York City

Hi Folks,

I will be spending a couple of weeks at Albrightsville over the festive period and my family would like to take a trip to NYC. We will have access to a vehicle and I was trying to fing the best way to get to NYC. I dont want to drive there but would happily drive part of the journey if I could park up and take a train into Penn Station. Any suggestions as to the best way would be appreciated.

Thanks

Albrightsville, Pennsylvania??

Drive somewhere in New Jersey and take New Jersey transit in or somewhere in New York and take Metro North,

It depends on whether your objective is to drive as far as possible or as little as possible. For the latter, here%26#39;s a bus co. with service to NYC from Easton/Bethlehem area

To drive closer to NYC, you could drive to the Port Imperial ferry terminal in Weehawken, NJ and take the ferry or a bus into Manhattan.

There%26#39;s some info that might be useful on this thread about coming from WilkesBarre

There%26#39;s also a good discussion on the pros and cons of driving and parking outside the city vs. just driving in. You don%26#39;t say how long you intend on staying or how many are in your party, but sometimes, just driving in and parking in Manhattan is easier and not that much more expensive.

Thanks all for your help. It was always going to be a balance between how far to drive in then take rail or bus. The closer to NYC then parking spaces will be at a premium due to commuters. There is six in our party so I was trying to drive as close as possible to minimise carrying parcels to far on the way back.

I will look into the options provided and make a decision. We were in NYC last year at this time and the kids ( all teenagers) are desperate to go back.

Thanks again.

Martz Trailways serves Blakeslee which is just up the road from Albrightsville.

Interestingly, Martz Trailways offers a number of special fares which are much more competitive than the cost of driving, parking and taking a train / ferry. I would have thought driving to the Hudson River, parking and taking the ferry would be cheapest by far but that is before I saw these specials.

This one caught my eye.

NY Party of Two Special $97.00- --$17.75 for each additional person. The bigger your party, the more you save! This round-trip special is good for 30 days from the date of purchase. Your party can leave and return on any available Martz schedule. Available 7 days a week. Two people $97.00; Three $114.75; Three 132.50; Four $ 150.25.etc.

$168.00 for six people, roundtrip to Port Authority Bus Terminal, that is pretty good, lots of schedules to choose from.

Please let us know whether this works for you. Enjoy your time in New York City.

Here is an option, Take I 80 to I 95 south to the Lincoln Tunnel, as soon as you exit the tunnel there is a parking garage, park the car there and forget it. The toll for the tunnel is $8 round trip, parking will cost less than $40 for the day. Drivint time will be 2.5 to 3 hours and you won%26#39;t be driving in Manhattan for more than 10 minutes.

Once again thanks for your suggestions, it has certainly given me a few options. We will be arriving at Newark Liberty Airport at the end of next week and then driving out to Albrightsville, PA. I have downloaded maps from TomTom so hopefully I wont get lost. I will let you know how we get on.

Thanks

Hi Folks

Just returned from our vacation. I eventually went for the driving option which consisted of a two hour drive and then through the Lincoln tunnel and straight into the car park at the exit. Really easy and no problems whatsoever. Once again thanks for all your help.
