Best mode of transport (budget) from JFK to Times Sq
the cheapest way i think, is to take the AirTran which cost around $5-7 per person (cant remember exact price), the hop on the subway to times square which costs $1.75 i think.
check out the FAQ sticky at the top of the forumn it has a thread about JFK to Manhattan, explanting in better detail about the AirTran
Best mode of transport (budget) from JFK to Times Sq
Thanks for that, much appreciated and will have a look now at the FAQ%26#39;s. Another quick question if you dont mind? We are coming over for seven days and want to know where the best places would be to visit. We have a list of sights to see but from your point of view where you you visit? Thanks again
brelades, in addition to the wonderful FAQ ';sticky'; spend some time checking out the Things To Do section; lots of good info there, including a roster (with reviews) of attractions in order of popularity with visitors:

And here%26#39;s a terrific thread, with links to others, re: off-the-beaten-path ideas too:

there%26#39;s are tons of places to visit in NYC, what are your interests etc...
such as;
brooklyn bridge, central park, top of the top, the frick collection, grand central terminal, NY Public Library, Byrant Park, Times Sqaure, MET, MoMA, Wall St, Soho, Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, Washington Square Park, Harlem, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Columbus Circle, Broadway
just to name a few...
buy a guide book for NY, do a ton of research on the net, and reading on here, get a good map and start pinpointing places you would like to visit.
enjoy planning!
The cheapest way is to take a New York City bus to the subway, and transfer. The total cost is $2. Of course, ';cheapest'; and ';best'; are usually never the same thing (is the cheapest meal you ever ate also the best meal you ever ate? Are your best clothes your cheapest clothes? Why should travel be any different?)
Note that in the US, use of the 24 hour clock is largely limited to police and military. Almost no one else would ever say ';1530';, and a good many people would have no idea what you were talking about. To be understood in the US, you really do need to say ';3:30 PM';, and when making reservations or checking opening times for stores, make sure you confirm whether AM or PM is meant if there is a possibility for confusion.
