we are heading to ny in march. obviously with the plumetting 拢 our daily budget is not going to be what it would have been a few months ago. we are staying for 6 nights and at the moment it looks like our daily budget is going to be around $1000 give or take a few $. it%26#39;s our second visit to ny so we will be avoiding a lot of the touristy things we done 1st time around (statue of liberty etc), we don%26#39;t have a set itenerary yet but some of the things we hope to include are a broadway show, a knicks game, central park, top of the rock, walk across brooklyn bridge and as it%26#39;s new york shopping. our hotel is paid for so the daily budget will be for food and whatever we do on the day. we%26#39;d love to hear how other forum members(especially those from the uk who have travelled recently)think we will get on with a budget like this, also any advice on what the ales are like in ny just now and if they will continue well into the new year.
Trip Budget$1000 a day after hotels is a BIG budget - how many of you are there to spend it.
Trip Budgetjust the 2 of us.
you daily budget of $1000 will go far we are budgeting 拢100 a day just for food everyelse will be paid for before we go.
Actually, 1K a day USD isn%26#39;t that much. Figure around $400 t $500 for a nice hotel each night, around $300 for meals, $50 for travel if you don%26#39;t like walking and maybe a couple hundred for tickets to shows, Top of The Rock or other entertainment.
It%26#39;s an incredible city and worth the money. Go and enjoy!
the hotel is already paid for so $1000 really is a big budget
In September, for 2, we spent well under $100 a day for food. We bought a weekly subway pass ($25. each) so that covered transportation. We had done most of the touristy things before so spent about $100. total (5 days) in admission fees to some museums. So $1000. a day seems incredibly excessive. I could only spend that much in 5 days if I went to a few Broadway shows. Do you really plan to spend $1000. a day?
With our fam of 4 in May/08, I budgeted $100/head/day for food. Left us the option each day if we wanted something nice, but you can do quite well on brekkie %26amp; lunches if you%26#39;re not toting around two teenage male eating machines. If your hotel has brekkie included, you%26#39;re in better shape. If you%26#39;re doing shows, figure on $50-100/head per show; watch for things like Broadway Box for half price tickets. Your entry fees to tourism things will run you anywhere from $6-18/head/stop. You can check ALL this online prior to departure, you can even purchase your tickets and print at home (if you%26#39;re doing something big like the S of Liberty, that can eliminate a HUGE lineup time).
If you%26#39;re NOT including the hotel in that number, then unless you%26#39;re budgeting to purchase some local art, I think $1000 per day is somewhat excessive. Unless you%26#39;re thinking of $250 dinners...? Which is not at all hard to do in NYC, there is a wealth of top flight restos from which to choose.

You know very well that 1000 bucks a day is plenty
Did you spend that much every day last time? What on?
