Restaurants around 8th ave and 48th sts

I was looking for the locals opinion for a restaurant around 8th ave and west 48th streets. I need to be in that area to leave the city and was trying to find something different than Pigalle which would be in the area. I have checked Menupages but they do not offer much selection. Even something prior to those streets but in the area would work well. Any ideas would be greatly apprecicated!!

The restaurants I like are along Ninth Avenue. I%26#39;m a big fan of the Thai place on the corner of 51st and 9th, ChanPen Thai. I love Arriba Arriba on the opposite corner, 51st and 9th. Roberto Passon is in the immediate area. Amarone is nearby. On 46th Street you have Becco and Barbetta among many others. On 44th and 9th you%26#39;ll find Marseille. You have lots of choices in that area, is there a specific cuisine you%26#39;re looking for?

I love Chan Pen too! - On 8th Avenue - try Thalia at 50th Street - Have only eaten there once but I%26#39;m a regular at their takeout place around the corner for soups sandwiches and salads - everything is so fresh in the takeout place.

Rosie O Grady%26#39;s is 7th and 50 and is good simple food at a good price and they pour a good pint.

Thanx everyone I marked down a few of the suggestions. I don%26#39;t know if there are any steakhouses in that area but I think the selection I have should be good. Looking for a nice place to have dinner and unwind before the trip home.

Gallaghers steak house is a famous old great steak house only 4 blocks away
