Discretionary income is at a low ebb. For those of us who love New York, postponing visits is the only option until Manhattan Hotels reduce prices to affordable rates.

affordable to who? Each person has their own idea of what is affordable even during tough economic times
Cost of Manhattan Hotels
Haven%26#39;t Manhattan hotels started to lower ther rates? People have been posting about travelzoo having special on hotels under $200 a night recently
I thought they have been alot lower than before.. Yes I agree about travel zoo as well as doing your homework and using priceline and hotwire.
I agree--there are incredible deals out there right now. We%26#39;ve seen many people on here getting great rooms in the $100-$200/night range.
Try priceline.
I got sticker shock trying to book a hotel in Paris %26amp; I know what the ADR in NYC is.
I put in a low bid; it was accepted at a Marriot %26amp; we enjoyed ourselves.
Is there a question here?
There are other options, too. The new rezoning of the Queensboro Plaza area for hotels has resulted in hotels popping up on seemingly every empty lot, some with rates at times as low as $119.
Use
Betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com
to nail down hotels and bidding ranges before you bid. Great tools.
We always priceline.
We take $6 -$15 dollar coach bus rides to NYC from Boston.
We use broadwaybox for super discounted show tickets.
We use restaurant.com (and codes found on the net)for super discounted restaurants..or just use Pizza joints.
We eat breakfast in Times Square - simple vendor food. ($1.00 for bagel, $1.00 for coffee).
My wife and I spend a few weekends a year to see shows and exploring the city and buying lots of stuff.
NYC is very affordable if you are creative.
oops. Forgot..
We buy the Subway Funpasses for $7.00 per day to get around NYC..
mamababoo, I%26#39;d wondered whether you%26#39;d come to NYC this Xmas. I gather not. If you have a look at
travelzoo.com
and
quikbook.com
you%26#39;ll see prices have dropped dramatically and there were lots of semi bargains to be had close to Xmas.
