Has anyone stayed at the timeshare called Central Park Suites? Going to the US Open this summer and we are trying to find a good time share to use. It%26#39;s between this one and the Manhattan Club.
Central Park Suites
I%26#39;m skeptical as to the legitimacy of Central Park Suite%26#39;s operations; if you Google the address, you%26#39;ll see that nothing resembling what you describe shows up. And Central Park Suites does not appear on any of the usual websites/forums where time share owners and renters post their reviews.
If kitchenette facilities and more space interest you, is there a particular reason why you seem to have ruled out a hotel suite that offers those features?
Central Park Suites
I haven%26#39;t ruled out a hotel suite but was trying to find something suitable that is part of RCI timeshares as my parents own weeks and you can trade them in for other location for a mere $150 for a week%26#39;s stay. It is much more reasonable than paying for a hotel every night and usually you have more room in a timeshare. I am also looking into the Manhattan Club, which is also a timeshare. I have reads posts on the forum about it and they have been positive except for one. I wanted to know if anyone had been to the Central Park Suites so I%26#39;d have something to compare it to. Thanks for the info
Well, I trawled again through a couple of the major websites used by time share owners %26amp; renters, and this March 2008 post is the only ';answer'; I could find (i.e., there were some other people asking questions about Park Central Suites but no response). Don%26#39;t know if the info given here -- that you%26#39;d actually be booked into the Park 79 Hotel -- is still current, but seems worthwhile to do what that guy did: call RCI headquarters.

And here%26#39;s the TA reviews -- with traveler photos you should look at -- for the Park 79 Hotel:

Thanks. I%26#39;ll check that out. I am also looking into things like a Hampton Inn or an Embassy Suites. Not being from NYC, I don%26#39;t know which location to pick. Like I mentioned, we want something close to the subway so we can go out to Flushing Meadows to the tennis tournament but would also like to do the typical tourist stuff (Times Square, Central Park, Little Italy). I have info on a Hampton Inn-Chelsea or an Embassy Suites in the Financial District. Any opinion on either one?
Either one of those would work (I like the Embassy Suites, am not familiar with the Hampton Inn) -- relatively short ride to Times Square/42nd St. where you%26#39;d transfer to the #7 train to get out to the Open.
But how about staying in Long Island City (actually not on Long Island) in Queens, across the East River from midtown Manhattan? Properties there will be less pricey than comparable ones in Manhattan itself, but give you easy access to both the Open and Manhattan. Here are some thoughts on the possibilities there:

Thanks so much, we%26#39;ll check that out. I think the timeshare idea is ';out the window'; at this point!
For the record, the so-called Central Park Suites at 59 East 73rd Street is an illegal hotel in a residential building. Any tourist who chooses to stay there could be kicked out onto the streets at any time.
Someone asked just yesterday about the Manhattan Club which is an RCI timeshare property.

In the offer they saw, there was also a listing for Central Park Suites which I%26#39;d never heard of and the link doesn%26#39;t work on that page (here it is, fyi

Like Alice, I found an address on east 73 st. which looks like a small building and doesn%26#39;t seem possible as an RCI property. I will say the Park Central Hotel is on the other side of the building from the Manhattan Club so it is possible they%26#39;re combining the 2. The Park Central is not great.
The 2 best ways to get to the US OPen is either the #7 train (subway) which runs along 42 st. or you can take a Long Island Railroad train from Penn station (west 34 st.)
Wow, that%26#39;s scary. It%26#39;s advertised as being part of RCI Timeshares, unbelievable. Thanks for the advice!
#7 Train, I%26#39;ve been told that before. How long of a ride is it? Does it cost much to take the subway (never been on it before)?
