I%26#39;ve been to NYC several times with girlfriends. We have usually stayed right in the city because we could split the bill 4 ways. However I%26#39;m looking to take my whole family in April to the city for my sons 16th birthday. I%26#39;ve found the Sheraton Times Square and Sheraton Hotel and Towers for 283 a night. I also found the Sheraton on the Hudson in Weehawken for 209 and free parking. I%26#39;m not reading good reviews on the two hotels in Manhattan and so-so reviews for the Weehawken location. Any suggestions or tips. Saving money is the key but I don%26#39;t want to stay in a total dump.

Help! confused on where to stay
You will have a better time if you stay in Manhattan imo but if you%26#39;re coming at school holidays, you might struggle to find something affordable. I don%26#39;t think those Sheratons in Manhattan are very nice nor are their rooms particularly good for a family. I%26#39;d look at a suite hotel.

Yes we are driving. I%26#39;ve read alot of unfavorable things about the NYC sheratons. I want to make this a memorable trip but not memorable because we stayed in a complete hole in the wall.
I became a fan of priceline the bidding site after I got a great deal in Paris where hotel rooms are even more expensive than NYC. read up on the best ways to approach this b/c I%26#39;m not expert but it%26#39;s worth a shot.
I have a rate of 263 for Doubletree guests suites in Times Square or the same rate for Embassy Suites in NYC. Any suggestions as to which is the better hotel?
$263 is a fabulous rate at either hotel!! The Embassy Suites is the nicer hotel and includes FULL cooked breakfast in the price. The Doubletree in Times Square is the better location, especially for a teen. He will likely love being in Times Square but you may hate it. People are reporting the Doubletree really needs a facelift. Depends on whether that kind of thing bothers you.
Use Priceline....pick your area and star rating and then bid....if not accepted, wait 24 hours and then plug in exact data as before....only drawback is that you are only guaranteed a room for 2 which could equate to one bed....but you can call the hotel directly after winning and request 2 beds...I just booked The Barclay for $120 night for period 12/21 thru 12/25 and was able to get 2 beds for the three of us without incident....could have been ugly with only one bad but we took the risk and got lucky.
We just stayed at the new Hampton Inn in Soho last week and loved it! Very close to subway!
Good Luck and Have Fun!
I would be very leery about bidding on Priceline in the hopes of being able to then get a room with 2 beds during ';spring break'; time, which it seems is the time you%26#39;re thinking of arriving.
';Spring Breaks'; vary across the US and my guess is, as long as homework done, should be able to get two beds without a problem (depending upon area and class of hotel chosen).
