Advice on upcoming April trip...

Less than 4 months and counting now for upcoming trip to NY in April, though I would go back through my itinerary for trip, for any advice, it鈥檚 bit a while since I have looked a the plan. Alright a bit of background on us, girls only trip booked for friend鈥檚 40th Birthday, 5 of us in total including 3 teens aged 18, 18 and 17. Staying at Salisburys 123 W 57th St between 6th %26amp; 7th Ave. Staying 8th-15th April, first timers.

Day 1 鈥?Wed Arrival Day

鈥?Early Morning flight from Heathrow to JFK, arrive JFK around 12pm. Yellow Taxi into Manhattan. Arrive around 2-3pm. Dump bags at room, freshen up in room.

鈥?ToTR, St Patrick%26#39;s Cathedral

鈥?Maybe see either Grand Central Station or NY Public Library if have time or not to tired

鈥?Times Square

鈥?Though I was considering getting tickets to see the Knicks game at the Madison Square Garden, but none of us are into sports so I don鈥檛 know if we would enjoy it. I would like to say I have seen a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. What are your thoughts?

Day 2 鈥?Thrus Financial District

鈥?Wall St, Charging Bull, Trinity Church, Stock Exchange

鈥?World Trade Centre, St Paul鈥檚 Chapel

鈥?Century 21

鈥?Staten Island Ferry

鈥?Battery Park

鈥?Explore SoHo, look around the shops

鈥?Explore Little Italy

鈥?Dinner in Chinatown; can anyone recommend at great restaurant there, preferably around $15-20 a head

鈥?Or if Knicks game isn鈥檛 a good idea for first night, there鈥檚 a Rangers game on at MSG, considering that but also again don鈥檛 know whether would enjoy as no interest in sports. Opinions/Advice?

Day 3 鈥?Good Friday

鈥?Central Park including the zoo want to check out the polar bears and sealions

鈥?MET

鈥?NY Public Library and Grand Central Station, if didn鈥檛 have time before hand

Day 4 鈥?Sat

鈥?Madison Square Park, Union Square, Flatiron Building

鈥?East Village St Mark鈥檚 Place for shopping

鈥?Greenwich Village; Washington Square Park, Waverly Place, Bleecker St (including Magnolia Bakery), Friends Building, Carrie鈥檚 Stoop, General Browsing Shops

Day 5 鈥?Easter Sunday

鈥?Watch some of the parade on 5th Ave. What time will the parade start? I heard this parade isn鈥檛 as organize as others, as usually carries on though most of the day.

鈥?Department Stores; Bloomingdales, Saks, Macy鈥檚

鈥?ESB Late Night Is it a good idea to do it on Easter Sunday, will it be really crowded, should I save if for a weeknight instead?

Day 6 鈥?Easter Monday

鈥?Explore of South Seaport St

鈥?Mainly a Brooklyn Day; Water Taxi to Brooklyn or maybe just use the subway

鈥?Head over to Prospect Park and Park Slope, find the Grand Army Plaza

鈥?Back to Brooklyn Promenade, and Brooklyn Heights

鈥?Dinner at Grimaldi鈥檚, Dessert at Ice Cream Factory

鈥?Walk Over Brooklyn Bridge

Day 7 鈥?Tues Uptown

鈥?Roosevelt Tram 鈥?if open?

鈥?Columbus Circle

鈥?Madison Ave window shopping

鈥?Zabar鈥檚

鈥?Broadway Show; thinking of Grease or Mama Mia

Day 8 鈥?Wed Last Day

鈥?Anything Missed Things, or Things want to see again

鈥?Leave at 6pm for flight home 10:30pm from JFK

鈥?Again There is a Knicks game, but doubt we would be able to attend, game starts at 8pm probably miss flight if chose to go.

So, any opinions or advice I know there鈥檚 a lot packed in, but I don鈥檛 know if we would ever be able to go back to NYC again. I know there isn鈥檛 much about food on here, but I鈥檓 not really into food, well I do like my food, but were on a bit of a budget, we鈥檇 rather see all the sights etc鈥?instead, and with everything packed in, I would rather not restrict us on what restaurants to eat at. Thank you for reading.

Advice on upcoming April trip...

Just so you know, Good Friday and Easter Monday will be entirely unremarkable--I%26#39;d wager that many people don%26#39;t even know what those refer to, let alone observe them in any way.

Wednesday:

Seeing a Knicks game might be worth doing, but certainly not on this day. You%26#39;ll just be so zonked by the travel, time change, etc. that you%26#39;d fall asleep in your seat with only your big foam finger as a blanket.

Thursday:

Exploring Little Italy will take all of 10 minutes, but since you%26#39;ll be there, you may as well. Just so you know, you%26#39;ll end up doubling back a little if you go from the Financial District to Soho then to Chinatown, but that%26#39;s ok, I think. I would think about eating lunch at Katz%26#39;s for a quintessential NYC experience:

There are many good places to eat in Chinatown. Nice Green Bo (aka New Green Bo) is a popular choice:

And several people on here like Amazing 66:

Friday:

Looks good, just remember that the NYPL and GCT aren%26#39;t close to the Met, though they are easy enough to get to via the subway.

Saturday:

Fine. Have you considered doing a Foods of NY tour of the Village?

Sunday:

Fine. The parade is more of an amble, actually. It runs throughout midday, maybe 10-4.

Monday:

Fine. You know that Park Slope and Prospect Park aren%26#39;t close to the bridge, etc., right? They%26#39;re an easy subway ride, but further than you%26#39;d want to walk.

Tuesday:

Ok, but Madison Avenue is on the east side, while Zabar%26#39;s and Columbus Circle (I assume you%26#39;re referring to the Time Warner Center shops?) are on the west side.

Advice on upcoming April trip...

Thanks for the advice, I%26#39;m quite into the idea of seeing either a Knicks or Rangers game though i think it might only be 2 of us, I%26#39;m prefer to see a Knicks game, but might have to settle with the Rangers. How are the views from the 400%26#39;s section?

I%26#39;ll check out Katz, i wanted to go to either Katz, 2nd Ave Deli or Carnegie. I%26#39;ll be taking full use of the subway, don%26#39;t worry about that.

What do you think about doing the ESB on Easter Sunday, will it be too crowded, should i save for a weeknight?

If you go to this page--

http://www.thegarden.com/seating/

--and click on the relevant section, you can see what the views are like anywhere inside Madison Square Garden.

It%26#39;s hard to imagine that the ESB would be any more crowded on Easter Sunday than on a weeknight. Since it sounds like you want to go at night, I would actually go to the ESB after whatever game you end up going to at MSG, since it%26#39;s only 2 blocks away.

ohh, that%26#39;s not too bad, the 400%26#39;s don%26#39;t look as high up as the Level 4 at London%26#39;s O2.

I%26#39;m really considering tickets for the Knicks on the first night, but i don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s a good idea.
