Decent Restaurant Near 'Laguardia Airport Hotel'?

Although I%26#39;m sure this has been asked-%26amp;-answered somewhere in the forum, I have little time to search it out at the moment.

We%26#39;re booked for a park/sleep/fly at the Laguardia Airport Hotel on Ditmars for the end of the week ... and I was hoping to grab the names of two or three %26#39;decent, casual, moderately-priced%26#39; (not %26#39;upscale/expensive%26#39;) eatery/restaurant options which would be nearby to this hotel - for our evening meal.

I%26#39;m not overly familiar with the area/streets - and prefer not to stray too far (reasonable distance okay), although I%26#39;m not opposed to taking a cab - if that%26#39;s what might be suggested.

Any/all help welcomed. Thanks.

Decent Restaurant Near 'Laguardia Airport Hotel'?

You will not be able to find a taxi there unless you go to the airport itself, and there is very little in the immediate area, as it%26#39;s literally across the street from the airport.

Your best bet is to eat elsewhere, then drive to the hotel and check in. Since you%26#39;ll have a car, you can go anywhere in Queens and probably find parking. What sorts of food are you interested in?

Thanks for the FYI.

Forgot to include ... that we%26#39;re not all that fussy re- %26#39;type of food%26#39;. Italian%26#39;s fine, as would be Chinese or Mexican or just plain ol%26#39; American. Whatever might be %26#39;nearer%26#39; the hotel ... would be best.

An afterthought:

Is there a place %26#39;good enough%26#39; at the Laguardia Marriott to have a fairly-decent meal?

If you mean the Marriott at 102-05 Ditmars ...

The hotel itself has two pretty average hotel restaurants. Nothing special, but if you don%26#39;t want to leave the hotel, there you are.

But there are good places a very quick drive away.

Pio Pio, a Peruvian chicken place, is at 84th Street and Northern Boulevard - a 5-10 minute drive. Terrific chicken and chicken-related stuff, big pitchers of sangria, amazingly cheap.

Stella D%26#39;Argento is an ancient Italian restaurant (50+ years) at 90th and Astoria Boulevard. Very very classic, very very old school red-sauce Italian food.

In the other direction a little ways - maybe 10 minutes by the highway - you get to Flushing, which is a bustling Chinatown with tons of Chinese, Korean and Malaysian restaurants, lots of which are good. My favorite is Spicy %26amp; Tasty at 39th Avenue and Prince Street.

The good news is that LaGuardia Airport isn%26#39;t in an industrial area like the Newark Airport hotels. I have walked to the airport from the Junction Blvd subway station (it takes about 25 minutes). The neighborhood is quiet / residential. There aren%26#39;t alot of restaurants in the immediate area.

I don%26#39;t know anything about the LaGuardia Airport Marriott (other than where it is).

There is a diner on the Grand Central Parkway service road (north side) that is actually very good. I believe it is called Jackson Hole.

Nearest to LaGuardia, on 23rd Avenue, you%26#39;ve got Rancho Jubilee and Redd-Light Fish and Chips. I think I%26#39;ve walked past Jubilee. I looked at www.yelp.com and searched for East Elmhurst. I%26#39;ve never eaten at either of them.

Flushing isn%26#39;t far away and there are some great Chinese and Korean places there. Astoria also has some great restaurants.

The Q. 33 bus will take you into the heart of Jackson Heights, amazing restaurants there. Jackson Heights is one of my favorite neighborhoods and it is only 20 minutes on the bus.

Thanks a bunch (to all) for the quick responses.

I think we%26#39;ll give Stella D%26#39;Argento a try. It%26#39;s only a mile from the hotel; fairly easy directions; and seems to be an affordable spot.

There%26#39;s not much on the www in terms of %26#39;reviews%26#39; or comments; but I did find a short article (from a few years ago) which had some nice words about this restaurant - so I think we%26#39;ll give a a whirl.

Here%26#39;s that article, for travelers/others who might be interested in the read:

Thanks again. TA has some great forums with plenty of helpful people.
