Madison Square Garden Dilemma...

I have got a dilemma i want to go see an event at MSG, I%26#39;m in NY from 8th-15th April. I%26#39;m on a budget so I%26#39;ll be sitting in the 400%26#39;s section whatever i decided to see.

I have a choice between either;

*the Ringling Bros Circus Show (showing up until the 13th), not really sure if i want to see the circus.

*NY Knicks vs. Detroit Pistons on 8th April; this is our arrival date, we have an early flight, should be in NY by 12pm. But will most likely be too tired to go.

*NY Rangers vs. Philadelphia Flyers on 9th April

*NY Knicks vs. New Jersey Nets on 15th April; our last day this game starts at 8pm, and our flight leaves at 10:30pm, so i doubt very much we will have time to see this.

We%26#39;re a part of 5, 2 adults and 3 teens, 18,18,17. Mostly likely only 2 of us will be going to MSG, none of us are very much into sports, and I%26#39;m not that keen on the circus.

Really i would prefer to go to the Knicks game, i think the 15th is definitely out of the question, whereas we could maybe do the 8th, but i don%26#39;t know how tired we would be, whereas the rangers game the next night is do-able, but over the choice of an ice hockey game or basketball, i would rather see the Knicks. How cold are the Rangers game, i read you need to layer up?

Do any dates get released later, as i would prefer to see a concert instead?

';Mostly likely only 2 of us will be going to MSG...';

Who%26#39;s going with you and what does your seatmate want to see?

I vote for the Rangers/Flyers game.

You%26#39;ll never make your plane on the 15th.

Madison Square Garden Dilemma...

It%26#39;s mum and daughter (18) going, neither of us as said are really into sports, or to keen on the circus. Daughter thought really wants to go to an event at the garden, does really want to see Knicks actually, but is just on the wrong date.

What%26#39;s it like at a Rangers game?

Under those circumstances, I would skip going to the Garden entirely, and would go see something (a play; a musical; an opera; a concert; a dance performance; something at the Radio City Music Hall) that you would enjoy.

You are correct: going to the basketball game on the 15th is not going to work. You should probably be traveling to the airport when the game is starting. As for the 8th, I would not be able to stay up after flying all day, but that%26#39;s just me.

It sounds like you%26#39;re not really excited about going to any event at the Garden, but perhaps you would enjoy a tour. That way you could see the building without having to sit through a game or the circus. And it only takes an hour or so!

Well, not cold anyway! So that isn%26#39;t a concern. It%26#39;s not like going to Altrincham Ice Rink on a sunday night.

For me the best thing is to see a Rangers game at MGS, but hockey is my sport, and Rangers are my team. If you don%26#39;t like sport, then I don%26#39;t know what to say tbh, should you go or not? Up to you if you want to spend the money and take the time. Game lasts about 2.5 hours, plus with getting in the arena in good time and out then you are talking 3+ hours.

Atmposphere wise the hockey games are the best, but if the Rangers are losing, then you%26#39;ll get to hear plenty of booing and %26#39;Fire Sather%26#39; chants ;-) That bit probably isn%26#39;t as much fun!

If you just want to see MSG as an arena, as suggested above - maybe just do the tour? It%26#39;s a cool arena, old school in comparison to these boring cookie cutter arenas that are springing up everywhere now.

Rangers! But I%26#39;m biased too, we love hockey and I went to a lot of trouble and considerable expense to get tickets for our trip in March (thanks kickice etc for all the help). The first time I went to a big hockey game I didn%26#39;t really understand what was going on but I was mesmerised by the spectacle, the pace, the noise. If you can get reasonably priced tickets (and you probably will be able to) I think you would all enjoy it.

PS - the Rangers/Penguins game was on Fox Sports at the gym tonight, so I stayed and watched it, an hour on the treadmill, wore me out but worth it!

I think we%26#39;ll probably go see the Rangers then, Ticketmaster doesn%26#39;t have any, but MSGTicketExchange off TicketMaster has some, these are tickets that seasonpass holders aren%26#39;t going to be using, isn%26#39;t it? How does this process work, is it like ebay? Do i get sent the tickets, or do i pick them up from MSQ or print them off? Is it legal, real tickets?

I don%26#39;t understand why you are going to the time, trouble,and expense of seeing something that doesn%26#39;t interest you?

I thought vacations were a time to have fun. I expect your daughter would prefer to see a concert at the garden so maybe on another trip she could have that experience.

Yeah, sorry but I agree, too. I love seeing hockey live, but I%26#39;d never force my non-sports-fan friends to come with me. Do something else and take the MSG tour. Or see a concert if anything appealing is on the schedule.

I thought that you were into sports more than the others.

Since I%26#39;m not into sports I didn%26#39;t open this thread but now that I have, I have to agree with those who say skip the garden OR-- my suggestion would be go to the circus. 2 women who are not into sports and on a budget sitting in the 400 section to watch a game just makes NO sense to me. Either skip the garden, go for the tour or go to the circus which you might well enjoy.
