The road from Rice to Riches - A belated trip report Day 3

Day 3 - Headed to Astor Place, there was a street fair with a stand selling mozzarella sticks and fried callimari, so that, with the addition of a little marinara sauce, was brunch! Sat over the road on an extemely uncomfortable wall sharing the food, classy!

Headed further south and bought Uggs for SIL in David Z on 620 Broadway. Infinity shoes http://www.infinityshoes.com/ where DD treated herself to two pairs of boots and a pair of sneakers by Ed Hardy, I think it%26#39;s the whole tattoo thing, they are stunning, but not very well made. She had the sneakers on twice at work and they split along the instep on both feet. Into Signore, Signora 740 Broadway where DD picked up and really unusual New York bag, each of the letters is a small zipped pocket. From there to the shrine to tacky jewelry, Girl Props http://www.girlprops.com/RetailScience/page1 I was in a corner surrounded by carrier bags while DD blitzed the stands.

Highlight for me (well apart from the cute cat%26#39;s eye shades as a peace offering for baby sitting the bags;) was seeing the absolutely stunning Sandra Bullock, less than three feet away, with a young girl. While out for a cigarette, DD saw Tate Donovan, less than 15 mins after the SB sighting, definitely the area to people watch.

My debit card had rejected in David Z but it was because the card was being but through as ATM, it was ok when it went through as credit. I phoned the Nationwide bank in the UK and told them there would be a lot of spending on it so I didn%26#39;t want it blocked...and it was blocked in Girl Props, after the incredibly nasal assistant had rung up all DD%26#39;s tat. She put it to the side (with a lot of eye-rolling) while I went out to snarl at the Nationwide call-centre.

Home, soaked, got ready for Fuerzabruta, www.fuerzabrutanyc.com , got on the wrong subway, sorry GWB, it%26#39;s not quite idiot proof after all;) got to Brooklyn, turned round but a bit too late for the start of the show. The guy in the box office suggested we come back another night instead of missing a huge chunk, really nice of him. Home to bed.
