Buses to NYC - Megabus Update

All went well on our recent trip from Beantown to NYC via Megabus (also known as Dacca) bus lines until we got to NYC. It took us about 4 hours to get to NYC and another 1.5 hour to negotiate the city traffic and offload the bus. Because NYC either does not have a bus terminal or the bus terminal is seriously overbooked all kinds of bus lines attempt to park outside of Penn Station which is a mess. Our Megabus circled and circled the block attempting to park which is not easy in a long bus traveling around corners on busy city streets. On the return trip all bus passengers have to iine up outside Penn Station (this is hundreds of passengers) and waiting in the cold and the weather for a bus to appear. There are no gates, bays, signs or shelters. Everyone is lugging around huge suitcases and knapsacks. I cannot imagine what this expereince would be like in a rain or snow storm. If you think I am being a crybaby try this: put on your traveling clothes, take a cold shower with your luggage, then step outside into Northeast weather, then get on a bus for 4 hours. And don%26#39;t tell me this would raise prices, every other city has a bus terminal; why is the Big Apple offering such a third world experience?

New York has a bus terminal--Port Authority, 10 blocks north of Penn Station. It%26#39;s enormous and all the dropoffs and pickups take place inside. Megabus just doesn%26#39;t use it.

Thanks Crans. Do you know which bus lines use Port Authority?

Greyhound, Peter Pan, Trailways, NJ Transit, ShortLine, and several others. Apparently it%26#39;s the busiest bus station in the world:

(If you click on ';Bus Carriers'; on the lefthand side you can see the various buses that use it.)

It%26#39;s not an appealing building on the inside or outside, but it beats waiting in the rain!
