Islip airport transportation

My flight gets in late on a saturday night and I don%26#39;t want to have to schlep all my crap the the train, then change trains at Penn Station to get to my hotel.

Is there such a thing as inexpensive car service to the city?

I priced a town car from Carey for $198.00 ow. Too expensive

I used classic in the past when needing economical transportation from long island (home) to jfk. It is a ride sharing experience so you will definately spend a significant amount of time picking others up and dropping them off. Not sure if the savings would be worth it, but you could look into it.

I%26#39;ve used a long island based limo company often, not sure how much they%26#39;d charge, but it%26#39;s worth a shot to call.

Another possible solution is to take the Hampton Jitney Bus. I%26#39;ve personally never done it, but may be an affordable option to look into.

Just out of curiosity, why don%26#39;t you try switching your flight to JFK or LGA? I%26#39;m thinking you%26#39;re probably flying in on Southwest and that%26#39;s the reason you can%26#39;t :(

Yep manhattan1...you guessed it. I have a free ticket on Southwest, so I%26#39;m limited to where I arrive.

There are several taxi/car service cos. that are listed on the Islip website.

East End Moon lists a price of $100 into NYC. I don%26#39;t know how recent/accurate that is. I%26#39;ve used Colonial and they%26#39;re fine.

Thank you so much for the valuable info!

Hello. I was wondering how your trip went? I%26#39;m flying into Islip %26amp; am wondering if I made a good decision with the cheap SW flight. Also, I don%26#39;t know if I should get a hotel in the city or Islip/Long Island. Any suggestions? I don%26#39;t want travel to the city each day to be a nightmare. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you%26#39;re coming to see Manhattan, you do NOT want to stay in Islip. It%26#39;s 1 1/2 hrs. away in each direction. If the ticket is already purchased and not changeable, don%26#39;t cry over spilt milk but get yourself a hotel in NYC. If your plane arrives late, you could save some money by staying near the airport that first night and going into Manhattan the next morning. There%26#39;s a La Quinta Suites right near the airport that gets very good reviews.

The cheapest way to get into Manhattan is by Long Island Railroad from Ronkonkoma train station.

This really should be put up as a sticky or something (the mistake of thinking Islip is a good alternative to the three New York airports).

Islip is not near New York City. The time and expense is not worth any savings in price of the airfare, unless the difference is at least $500 (and it won%26#39;t be). To fly into Islip is a mistake, to stay in Islip with the goal of seeing New York City is pure lunacy.

Thanks you both for the info. I saved about $150 on the airfare. I%26#39;ve learned saving money isn%26#39;t always the best thing.

The least expensive way to get into NYC would be to rent a car at Islip and see if you can drop it off in Manhattan at no additional charge.
