Pampano

Has anyone tried this place? I thought about eating there one night before seeing a show.

Pampano

My experiences there have been good, although I%26#39;ve only had appetizers (love the ostiones Pampano!) -- and prefer it in warmer weather when you can sit outside since the upstairs dining room is a bit too noisy for my tastes.

But since the service is apparently uneven (I%26#39;ve had no problems but others have complained more about that in the past year), I think you%26#39;re better off swinging by its taqueria at lunchtime (open only between 11 AM-3 PM) and opting for one of your other possibilities for dinner:

Pampano

I%26#39;ve never had anything but great experiences at Pampano. Last time I was there it was the summer time and we sat outside on the patio, it was heaven. Just absolute paradise, sitting outside on the upstairs patio enjoying Margaritas and some great food. This evening we%26#39;re having sleet, freezing rain and just plain very cold rain and you%26#39;ve got me thinking about sitting out on the patio under clear skies and 75 degrees.

Prior to the above experience my two dinners at Pampano were indoors / downstairs. We enjoyed it. Great drinks, great food, very fresh seafood.

I haven%26#39;t been, but the description of it in the Michelin guide sounds pretty good. They say don%26#39;t miss the margaritas.....

I think it makes a really poor choice for pre theater as it%26#39;s not only not in the theater district, but is crosstown, the worst way to have to go. (ie north/south is easier than east/west). It%26#39;s a very good restaurant for another time, but not pre-theater unless you%26#39;re going to some off Broadway on the east side. All the theaters are west and this is east.

I havent been in a little over a year, but I remember it fondly. And, agree with Cockle Cove, the upstairs is very noisy...

I dunno... we%26#39;ve hoofed it to Broadway from Pampano with no problem, but inclement/frosty weather could dampen your enthusiasm for that ;-)
