Has anyone ever stayed in the paramount hotel, I know the rooms are small but is it worth playing the symapthy card in this hotel?
Has anyone ever had a good meal in any of the restaurants around the area, I dont mind paying over the odds for soemthing different and i want to stay away from the franchise restaurants?
I have heard that the marriot have a revolving bar - do i need to book and what is the attire?
paramount hotel
Here%26#39;s my candid opinion of the Paramount: you couldn%26#39;t pay me enough to stay there. Out-of-town friends of mine ';won'; the Paramount on Priceline awhile back, and their room provided no end of amazement and rueful chuckles. In addition to the very small room size (about the size of my living room area rug), the design is gawdawful for travelers... not at all ergonomic (e.g., 1 lone chair made for perching, not sitting), no table or desk, virtually no storage space of any kind, and you can%26#39;t even stash anything out of the way by placing it under the bed because the (lumpy) mattress and box springs are on the floor.
Plus, the Paramount has changed ownership with an eye to converting it to a Hard Rock hotel. What that means for right now is that maintenance is nigh non-existent, and it%26#39;s looking scruffy %26amp; quite shopworn. But, I know they%26#39;ve been offering some excellent prices, and that alone is sufficient reason for many people (understandably enough, given the rates here in Manhattan) to choose it.

';is it worth playing the symapthy card in this hotel?'; What are you talking about??
If you%26#39;re looking for a hotel for Thanksgiving weekend, the Shelburne Murray Hill is available for $199/night on quikbook. Not as close to Times Square as the Paramount, but much nicer imo and much more space.
I have just returned from a trip to NYC where I stayed at the Paramount Hotel. I would NOT recommend this Hotel to anyone. I had heard that the rooms were small, but nothing could have prepared me! We were unable to actually wheel the suitcase around the room - there just was not enough space between the bed and the end wall.
The Room Service Guide contracdicted itself about the time that Room Service is available until - in 2 separate areas it stated 11.30pm and also 12.00am. When I called to order at 11.19pm, I was told that the kitchen stopped serving at 11.20pm! I duly pointed out that I still had 1 minute (or 11 or 39 depending on which time specific information you went by).
The reception is unnecessarily loud, the hallways are dark and the lighting appauling - it would remind you of nightclub lighting - the carpets are thread bare and our bathroom tiles and bathtub had evidence of the previous occupier. The only consolation is the coffee shop downstairs (although this does not even belong to the Hotel).
Please, please, please pass over this Hotel - it was a let down for us. We would have left, but we have pre-paid on a Hotel website.

I stayed in the Paramount before and will stay again in march/april.
We%26#39;ve booked the Superiour this time but the standard room is OK.
It%26#39;s small... but hey.. that%26#39;s NYC !
My only big room in the last 4 stays in NYC was the Belvedere hotel.
And why do you want to stay in your room ? The hotel is on a perfect location. Just next to Times Square. And the hotel is quiet. People are friendly. And the lobby is great !
I%26#39;m really looking forward to our stay in March/April.
They have some really big rooms- we were upgraded once and it was really huge- tiny bathroom tho. The room we started in had two beds and if you have feet bigger than a 40 you need to walk roud them on tip toe
the paramount used to be the #1 boutique hotel in nyc. i stayed there in 7/03. i also was a customer for dinner many times in the 1990s. i stayed there right before the new corporation took over. my experience was great. clean well appointed rooms. beautiful fitness center etc. elegant %26amp; the service was the best!! the room was small w/a nice bed, big mirrors, soft lighting. (looks like the new people sold the bed frames %26amp; headboards left the mattresses. how low can people go)? also i had a nice bathroom. im very picky. right after ian schrader sold it it became a dive. as i stated in my review, that new owners take the famous name, the old repuation %26amp; try to live off that. no i never went back there but the reviews are still @the lowest rating. why do people go if its a filthy dump? if there are dozens of reviews that say the same thing, what up w/this?
forgot to mention, the staff left when ian schrader sold it. they WERE professional, young attractive etc. %26amp; yes the maids were in cleaning changing linens every day. im sure they left too. after all why pay for cleaning??
