TIckets to Yankee Baseball games

I have read everything I can find and I%26#39;m still a little confused about how to get advance tickets to a Yankee game.

My FIL is a big Yankee fan and will be in NYC in May to attend his grandson%26#39;s graduation from college. I%26#39;d like to get him tickets to a Yankee game as a gift.

I have signed up on yankees.com but haven%26#39;t received any information yet. I%26#39;m assuming tickets are not yet available for the 2009 season?

It is my understanding that I can purchase tickets directly from yankees.com. Is that correct? I also have the option of asking above mentioned grandson to go to Yankee Stadium and purchase tickets at the Advanced Sales booth. Is that right? (He and I both think that option isn%26#39;t available until the stadium opens in April.)

And, lastly, I can purchase tickets from StubHub, Ticketmaster, Ace...those sort of places. (Is anyone seriously paying $1,000 and more to see a baseball game?)

This will be a very big deal for him so I%26#39;d like to get him good seats. He%26#39;s almost 80 and from a small town. This will be something he%26#39;ll talk about for the rest of his years. Any suggestions as to section choice would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Tickets for the 2009 season are not yet available to the public. I would just wait until they are available (not much choice). As for stubhub, it is a reliable site. However, the tickets that are there now are likely season tickets bought by brokers in anticipation of their receiving those tickets. The tickets should be much lower than $1000 once tickets really go on sale and the real ticket owners (not brokers) start posting their tickets.

I bought Yankees tix for the last home game in the old stadium back in Sept. It was my first time using Stubhub and I only paid about $60 each. It%26#39;s a reliable site.

Keep checking their website for when tickets go on sale:

When exactly will your FIL be in town? It will probably be easier getting tickets to the games against the Twins or Orioles than some of the other games during the month:

Your assumption is correct: single game tickets have not yet been released for sale to the general public. If you want to buy a season ticket package, the Yankees would be more than willing to sell you one now!

Keep checking the website, and look for the email announcing when the single ticket sales begin, at which time you can purchase them through yankees.com. I think that would be the easiest way to go. If yankees.com says tickets are not available for the game in which you have interest, then I would recommend stubhub.com. I%26#39;ve used it before (to purchase Yankee tickets, in fact), and it was very easy. Easier than sending the grandson to the stadium to try to get tickets.

My main recommendation would be to keep checking the website for the announcement of single game ticket sales, then act quickly.

Many thanks!
